The Catalan city has been chosen as the third best city in the world where to start a new life, according to Time Out magazine.
Different cities have been rated by different categories as ‘employment score’, ‘rent score’ or ‘quality of life score’, and Barcelona was the third best city in the world to start a new life in 2022.
The poll was carried out by the packaging company RAJA Group and at the first positions we can find Athens and Austin.
But, in addition, the city has another third position, in this case for the Access City Awards 2022. In this is an award they choose from among more than 40 pre-selected cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants the best ones that make mobility and accessibility easier for their citizens by eliminating barriers and improving accessibility so that everyone can work and live without problems.
The winners have been Luxembourg, Helsinki, and Barcelona appears in third position. One of the most valued points are the accessible metro stations, the voice in vending machines, the 100% accessibility of the buses with ramps, Braille identification and acoustic information.
This award is important because the population of the European Union is getting older and around 87 million suffer from a disability.
